GPS usefulnessExcellent for track-day analysis
IMU usefulnessGood, with 25 Hz delivered output
Standalone useYes
Vehicle dataNot provided directly

The Mini S is the storage-equipped version of RaceBox Mini. RaceBox documents 130 minutes of storage at 25 Hz or 325 minutes at 10 Hz and more than 20 hours of active battery operation.

Verified specifications

Motion output
Internal readings averaged to 25 Hz BLE output
Connectivity
Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2; USB-C charging

Not supported directly
Do not confuse 1 kHz with exported telemetry.

The sensors run internally at 1 kHz, but the documented client-facing output is 25 Hz after averaging.

Data access and formats

RaceBox publishes its BLE protocol for third-party apps. The protocol documents live NMEA RMC, GNS, GGA and GSA messages, plus binary motion/location data. RaceBox also documents cloud export to CSV, VBO and GPX. The BLE documentation says standalone recordings cannot be downloaded in NMEA format.

Practical track use

At 160 km/h, 25 Hz produces one fix interval per roughly 1.8 metres travelled. That is temporal spacing, not an accuracy claim. Place the unit level, near the vehicle centre, logo upward and with a clear sky view. RaceBox warns that metal and some windscreens can block satellite signals.

Strengths

  • Useful GNSS output rate for line and braking comparison.
  • Standalone storage avoids a permanent phone connection during recording.
  • Documented protocol and common export formats reduce ecosystem lock-in.

Limitations

  • No direct vehicle channels.
  • Separate camera video still requires synchronisation.
  • Claimed accuracy depends on mounting, sky view and the environment.
